Shortcuts

Shortcuts are a visual reference to a program in some other folder.

So although, for example, PeopleSize may be installed in the folder 'C:\Program Files\PeopleSize', you can run it from another folder which is more convenient. For example you might have a folder which has all your files for one project - your drawings, reports, faxes etc. With a PeopleSize shortcut in this folder, you can run PeopleSize easily and make the Settings for that particular project load as the defaults.

You can have many shortcuts, in different folders, to PeopleSize. Each folder can have a separate default PeopleSize Settings file, specified for that particular project.

You can create and find shortcuts in three places:

In Explorer.

On the Taskbar.

In a folder on the Desktop.

Right-clicking is the key to the process:

In Explorer, right-click on the PeopleSize program file; you will be given an option 'Create Shortcut'.

When you select this option, a new shortcut will appear.

Drag this shortcut to your project folder, or right-click to cut and paste it.

Right-click the shortcut.

Select 'Properties', 'Shortcut'.

In the 'Start in:' box, enter the project folder or browse to it.

The Taskbar, Start, Programs list is made up of shortcuts in the C:\Windows\Start Menu\Programs folder. You can use Explorer to edit them there.

To create a shortcut on the desktop, or in a folder on the desktop:

Right-click on the desktop or folder.

Then select 'New...', 'Shortcut'.

Browse to 'PSzPro.exe' and finish off.

Right-click the new shortcut.

Select 'Properties', 'Shortcut'.

In the 'Start in:' box, enter the project folder or browse to it.

If you are running a project across a network, you can set all workstations to use the same 'Start in' folder on one machine, to make sure that everyone uses the same PeopleSize Settings and/or Export files.
