Chinese

The Chinese statures and weights are from the China Health and Nutrition Survey.  The latest available survey year was 2011, published in 2014.

Data were calculated from these and from data supplied by Professor L. Lim of Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (ref 82) and reported by Li (ref 10). The Singapore data is for workers, chiefly in manufacturing, and the Taiwanese study is of civilians from unspecified occupations. Also used were data by Yu-Cheng Lin, Mao-Jiun J. Wang, Eric M. Wang, of Taiwanese and Chinese adults (refs 92, 93).

In general we have only estimated bony dimensions, because we lack a good basis for scaling fatty dimensions.  You should treat the Chinese data as more variable than, say, US data, and make designs as non-critical for size as possible.  Nevertheless we believe that, at the time of publishing, these are the best data available for the Chinese population.
