The data were updated to 2003-4 values using statures and weights from L'IFTH (Institut Français du Textile et de l’Habillement – French Textile and Apparel
Institute). L'IFTH conducted a large size survey using scanning as well as landmark-based measuring, with a sample size of 11,500 (including children). The user should just be aware that such clothing studies typically present a slightly more 'optimistic' picture of stature and weight than government health surveys, however the data benefit from a good sample size and balanced geographical sampling.

Standard Deviations were calculated from the Coefficients of Variation in the PeopleSize UK dataset, in which 18-64 year-old males and 18-39 year-old females closely matched the statures and weights of the new French data.

In general, these data are more approximate than US and UK data.
